Case Study: "Y" House

The “Y” House by Steven Holl is placed on a hill in the Catskill Mountains of New York and acts as a holiday retreat. As the title suggests, the shell of this house is ‘Y’ shaped, it starts off with a one-story entrance and then splits up into a two-story sectional flip of public/private spaces. Both branches end with deep south-facing balconies that are designed to maximize natural sunlight within the house.
